<strong>Congratulations</strong>! Chase Wilson has qualified <strong>to</strong> represent MES and participate at the state level of the<br />
National Geographic Bee at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He is a 5 th grade student in<br />
Mrs. Sonya Smith’s classroom.<br />
Students at Monrovia Elementary School will have art work featured at the Huntsville Museum this<br />
month during Youth Art Month. The students Micah Pettus (4 th Grade) and Jon Keiser (5 th Grade) were<br />
invited <strong>to</strong> attend a special reception on March 10 th . <strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Mrs. Sweet-Mikell, Art teacher and<br />
students.<br />
Monrovia Elementary School was selected as a School Tour site<br />
for The Leader in Me Symposium. Approximately 160 conference<br />
participants visited the school on February 7, 2013 and give<br />
students, staff, and parents of Monrovia Elementary an<br />
opportunity <strong>to</strong> showcase results they have achieved through The<br />
Leader in Me model. This is the school’s first year of<br />
implementation of the seven habits.<br />

Monrovia Elementary Teacher of the Year<br />
recipient. <strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> Mr. Billy Rice,<br />
Cus<strong>to</strong>dian of 19 years and Support Staff of the<br />
Year recipient. We are very proud of you!<br />
Leaders help others and MES student leaders<br />
participated in the “Pasta for Pennies”<br />
program benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. MES students exceeded their goal and<br />
brought in almost $3,000 in donations. The Gold Banner Class was Ms. Atchley’s Third Grade.
