Buckhorn Basketball was well represented in the County Tournament Finals. The 7 th and 8th grade boys<br />

were runner ups.<br />

The Buckhorn Middle School Faculty/Staff Buckette Runners had two relay teams <strong>to</strong> participate in the<br />

Mercedes Benz Marathon in February. Both teams completed the 26.2 mile run in under 4:27:59. Team<br />

members included Debi Mullins, Britney Gransky, Mindy Pierce, Jackie Hester, Barbara Hughes, Rachel<br />

Evans, Liz Warren, Jennifer Taylor, and Amanda Lemons.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> the BMS Choir for receiving an overall rating of Excellence at the Alabama State<br />

Choral Competition.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> the BMS softball team for taking first place in the Birmingham <strong>to</strong>urnament this past<br />

weekend. Their record is now 5-1. Special recognition <strong>to</strong> Zoe Emrick and Kalana Packard for being<br />

named <strong>to</strong> the All Tournament Team and Kaylee Combs for being named <strong>to</strong>urnament MVP.<br />

Mrs. Pierce’s 8 th grade World His<strong>to</strong>ry students hosted a “Night at the Museum” on February 28, 2013.<br />

Parents, friends, and family were invited <strong>to</strong> take a <strong>to</strong>ur through the hallways of BMS as his<strong>to</strong>rical<br />

characters came <strong>to</strong> life. Parents listened intently as King Tut, Moses, Aris<strong>to</strong>tle, Caesar, and many, many<br />

more <strong>to</strong>ld how they made an important impact on his<strong>to</strong>ry. An anticipated 125 parents were expected, but<br />

after final numbers were counted, over 200 parents, friends, and community members came through the<br />

<strong>to</strong>ur! It was a fun night of learning for all involved.<br />

Three Central School band students were recently selected<br />

<strong>to</strong> represent Central in the Madison County Middle School<br />

Honor Band: Karen Carter, 8 th grade, Dale Millard, 8 th<br />

grade, and Hope Miller, 8 th grade.<br />

<strong>Congratulations</strong> <strong>to</strong> these students and Ms. Merritt, Band<br />

Direc<strong>to</strong>r.<br />

Mrs. VanHooser’s 5 th grade ACE students at Central<br />

School traveled <strong>to</strong> Dauphin Island Sea Lab off the coast of
