The MCHS Girls Basketball Team won the Regional championship and advanced <strong>to</strong> the Final Four,<br />

where they were defeated in the semi-finals. Courtney Binder and Hannah Nichols were named <strong>to</strong> the<br />

Regional Tournament team. Hannah Nichols was the Regional Tournament MVP and was also named <strong>to</strong><br />

the State All-Tournament team.<br />

Fifty MCHS English students <strong>to</strong>ok a trip <strong>to</strong> Central Elementary School where they had the honor of<br />

reading <strong>to</strong> students in honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday.<br />

Hannah Weaver was the 2 nd place winner at Post level (Post 5162) in the VFW Voice of Democracy<br />

program.<br />

Two Madison County indoor track athletes won the Class 4A State<br />

title in their events. Robin Yawn is the state champion in shot-put and<br />

Russell Pugh is the state champion in pole vault.<br />

Four players from the MCHS State Championship Volleyball team<br />

were named <strong>to</strong> the Alabama Volleyball Coaches Association All<br />

State Teams. Hannah Nichols and Syretha Pride were named first<br />

team. Riley Carter and Abbie Mills were named second team.<br />

Jordan Chunn recently signed a football scholarship with Troy<br />

University. Jordan also received the great honor of being named 4A<br />

Back of the Year at a recent award ceremony.<br />

LaQuante Bone signed a football scholarship with UT Martin.<br />

Emily Gangl and Will Hurst were selected as Alabama Sports<br />

Festival Foundation Ambassadors. As ASF Foundation<br />

Ambassadors, they are promoting the "Be a Men<strong>to</strong>r, Don't Text &<br />

Drive" campaign.<br />

Seab Webster was nominated <strong>to</strong> the McDonald's All American High<br />

School Basketball Team.<br />

Jackson Richard was named the MCHS Bryant Jordan Scholar Athlete.<br />

Syretha Pride was named MCHS Bryant Jordan Achievement Award recipient, and went on <strong>to</strong> win the<br />

Area and Region in the 2013 Bryant-Jordan Student Athlete Scholarship Program.<br />

Forty-five students from Madison County High School’s Junior ROTC visited Test Area 1 on Feb. 14 <strong>to</strong><br />

witness the live firing of a Javelin Missile as well as observe a static display of an Improved Target<br />

Acquisition System.<br />

Mollie Wyatt, Daniel Lewis, and Chris Hershey were selected <strong>to</strong> be members of the All-State Chorus.
