7.2.2 It is therefore essential to accurately define the objectives and processes to be followed, and<br />
to document them as appropriate in the study plan.<br />
7.3 DEFINING THE SCOPE OF THE AERONAUTICAL STUDY<br />
7.3.1 The first step c<strong>on</strong>sists of identifying the scope of the study, c<strong>on</strong>sidering the relevant <str<strong>on</strong>g>ICAO</str<strong>on</strong>g><br />
and other guidance materials, and should include:<br />
a) level of compliance with <str<strong>on</strong>g>ICAO</str<strong>on</strong>g> SARPs;<br />
b) identificati<strong>on</strong> of all other items to be included in the study;<br />
c) identificati<strong>on</strong> of those areas of interest relevant to the items to be addressed;<br />
d) the assumpti<strong>on</strong>s <strong>on</strong> which the aer<strong>on</strong>autical study will be based and the list of the specific<br />
<strong>NLA</strong> characteristics (see Chapter 2 and Appendix A) which may have an impact <strong>on</strong> the<br />
issues at stake for the different items;<br />
e) internati<strong>on</strong>al specificati<strong>on</strong>s, nati<strong>on</strong>al or local regulati<strong>on</strong>s, and any other requirements;<br />
and<br />
f) any additi<strong>on</strong>al criteria and definiti<strong>on</strong> of methods of assessment which are needed to<br />
clarify and dem<strong>on</strong>strate c<strong>on</strong>formance to particular requirements.<br />
7.4 STUDY PLAN<br />
7.4.1 The following steps may provide a framework for a uniform structured process:<br />
a) introduce, and develop a background statement to the requirement;<br />
b) specify roles, resp<strong>on</strong>sibilities and competence;<br />
c) identify sources of the requirements;<br />
d) specify the manner in which the study is to be c<strong>on</strong>ducted;<br />
e) clearly define the study objectives, together with any specific c<strong>on</strong>trol and approvals<br />
mechanisms;<br />
f) identify the process for fault identificati<strong>on</strong>, change management and issue resoluti<strong>on</strong>;<br />
g) define any process validati<strong>on</strong> methodology, including approvals;<br />
h) specify measures to archive results and data; and<br />
i) specify resources to be used, and scheduling plan.
