Sandy shore of the Potomac, opposite Alexandria. First found by Prof. J. H.<br />
Comstock, May 1, 1881 ; then in good condition. Roots large, white, divergently<br />
branching, and abruptly truncated at the end, from which truncated extremities,<br />
and from no other part, proceed bundles of long, white fibers.<br />
