4. Issue : Inerrancy
a. Defined :
Simply, inerrancy means wholly true. Inerrant scriptures
are not false or mistaken; rather, they are free from error
(incapable of error).
b. Delimited :
Inerrancy extends only to the "autographs"
(the original writings when first recorded);
however, to the degree that subsequent
translations reflect the autographs, the translations
are functionally inerrant.
"Inerrancy means that when all the facts are known, the Scriptures
in their original autographs and properly interpreted will be shown
to be wholly true in everything they teach, whether that teaching
has to do with doctrine, history, science, geography, geology,
or other disciplines or knowledge."
