8. It goes without saying that the name of Napoleon is not evidential.<br />

but there is no ordinary reason for the manner of alluding to Austria<br />

Hungary in the manner of the text. It was not so apparent at the time<br />

that the alliance was of no avail, tho it was true that the Austrian armies<br />

did not succeed so well against the Russians as did the German annies.<br />
