28. Provisional license (Specialist under-supervision)
The “Specialist under supervision license” issued by DHA grants a provisional license to a physician holding DHA recognized
specialty qualification but lacks the experience requirements to obtain an independent specialist license.
The “Specialist under supervision” must work under supervision of a Specialist/Consultant from the same specialty.
The DHA provisional license is a temporary license. Failing to upgrade the license within 5 years may result in nullification of the
license.
The “Specialist under supervision” will be granted three attempts to pass the DHA Specialty assessment. Failure to pass on the third
attempt will lead to cancellation of the provisional license. To reapply he/she is required to obtain an additional DHA Recognized
Specialty Certificate qualification as per the published list on DHA website
The “Specialist under supervision” is permitted to reapply to obtain DHA General Practitioner (GP) license; he/she shall attend and
pass the DHA GP assessment to obtain the license. Applicant will be granted only three chances to pass the DHA GP license.
