Sonographer<br />

Title Qualifications Experience<br />
Route 1:<br />
Bachelor degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Ultrasound (not less<br />
than 3 years course duration)<br />
Route 2:<br />
Associate Degree in Sonography (minimum of 2 year course<br />
duration)<br />
AND registration as Sonographer with one of the following<br />
bodies:<br />
- Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR)<br />
- The Canadian Association Medical Radiation Technologists<br />
- Ireland: Department of Health and Children<br />
- New Zealand: Australasian Society for Ultrasound in<br />
Medicine (ASUS)<br />
- South African Health Professional Council as a radiographer<br />
(HPCSA)<br />
- UK: Registration with Health Professional Council (HPC)<br />
- The American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography<br />
(ARDMS)<br />
Or other equivalent bodies.<br />
Route 3:<br />
Bachelor degree or Diploma from an accredited institution in<br />
Radiography /Radiology Technology or Medical Imaging<br />
(minimum of 3 years course duration) AND<br />
Post primary Certificate or Diploma degree (not less than 12<br />
months) in Diagnostic Ultrasound<br />
Minimum of two years’ experience in the<br />
designated field.<br />
