technical and financial aspects. It was also
instrumental in the strengthening/activation of
barangay development councils (BDCs) with
significant representation of the basic sectors
assisted by the project. The BDCs were able to
influence the passage of relevant barangays
ordinances supportive to the development
aspirations of the people in the community.
In the aspect of productivity systems
development (PSD), the project was able the
socialized loan for business capital. Provision of
pre and post harvest facilities such as small farm
machinery, solar driers, warehouses, coffee dehuller
and abaca stripping machines significantly
contributed in increasing productivity.
has been able to heighten the level of
environmental awareness of the local
communities highlighted by the crafting of twelve
In addressing the education service-related
shortcomings of the local schools education
system, the project was also able to provide
training opportunities to 48 teachers on different
effective strategies in teaching students and
pupils as well as provided instructional materials,
textbooks and reference materials to 13 day care
centers and eight elementary schools and high
school. The project also provided support for the
repair of eight elementary school classrooms
and construction two day-care centers and 1 preschool
bilding, as well as extended scholarship
and educational assistance to 1,019 pupils and
students.
In the aspect of Health Services, the project was
able to strengthen the delivery of basic health
services in the 12 communities. Interventions
provided include enhancing the skills of
In summary, the Convenio in Caraga clearly
demonstrates the features of SIAD as multidimensional
approach in rural development, as it
deals on the aspects of economy, ecology, social
relations, polity and people empowerment.
