U Radiolo{kom institutu va`na godina<br />
je 1960, kada se nabavqa „kobalt bomba”,<br />
kako se popularno zove. Radilo se o izotopskoj<br />
ma{ini. To je veliki <strong>za</strong>okret u<br />
radio-terapiji <strong>Srbije</strong> i Balkana (ako<br />
ho}ete) jer to je novi metod u zra~ewu<br />
pacijenta. To je bio va`an doga|aj, toliko<br />
va`an da je tada{wi potpredsednik<br />
Savezne dr`ave, Aleksandar Rankovi},<br />
otvorio ovo odeqewe.<br />
Profesor Aleksije Milosavqevi} 1958.<br />
godine otvara Interno odeqewe u<br />
Pasterovoj i prikqu~uje ga Onkolo{kom<br />
institutu, a <strong>za</strong> to vreme mladi doktori<br />
Milo{ Bekerus i Smiqa Pendi}<br />
ukqu~uju u klini~ku praksu ve{ta~ke<br />
radio-izotope. Do tada je bio radijum,<br />
sada prelazimo na ve{ta~ke radio-izotope<br />
u brahiterapiji.<br />
Godine 1970. veliki autoriteti u oblasti<br />
radiolo{ke onkologije <strong>Srbije</strong>: Merka{,<br />
Br<strong>za</strong>kovi}, Vujni} otvaraju Odeqewe<br />
Betatrona, generatora jonizuju}eg zra-<br />
~ewa. Wegova maksimalna energija generisanih<br />
H z<strong>raka</strong> i elektrona iznosi 42 miliona<br />
elektovolti. To je najja~a ma{ina<br />
koja je ikada i igde ukqu~ena u klini~ku<br />
praksu. To je bio Betatron.<br />
Od toga vremena po~iwe moderna radioterapija<br />
Beograda, odnosno <strong>Srbije</strong>.<br />
As for the Institute of Radiology, the year to<br />
remember is 1960, when the so-called 'cobalt<br />
bomb' was purchased. It was an isotopic<br />
machine. This was a significant turn in the<br />
radio therapy in Serbia and the Balkans,<br />
since it represented a new method in X-ray<br />
treatment of patients. This event was given<br />
such an importance, that its Department was<br />
opened by then-Vice President of the state,<br />
Aleksandar Rankovi}.<br />
In 1958, Professor Aleksije Milosavljevi}<br />
opens the Medical Ward Department in<br />
Pasterova street which joins the Institute of<br />
Oncology, while at the same time, young doctors<br />
Milo{ Bekerus and Smilja Pendi} introduce<br />
in the clinical practice the artificial<br />
radio isotopes in brachytherapy.<br />
In 1970, a great authority in the field of radiology<br />
oncology of Serbia: Merka},<br />
Br<strong>za</strong>kovi}, Vujni} are opening the Department<br />
in Betetron, generator of ionizing radiation<br />
with maximum energy of generated X<br />
rays and electrons accounts for 42 million<br />
electric volts. This was the most powerful<br />
machine that has ever been used in the clinical<br />
practise. Its name was Betatron.<br />
This event denotes the beginning of the modern<br />
radio therapy in Belgrade - Serbia.<br />
