dtiring mass. This custom -was prevalent in Canada tintil some<br />

twenty-five or thirty years ago. when it fell into disuse. It may still<br />

be current in France ; I have seen it, qnite recently, at mass on the<br />

2 (p. 69). — Bntenx's description of his route is too vagne and<br />

indefinite to enable ns to identify' this lake. It is possibly the same<br />

as Kasushikeami, " lake of clear water," known also as Lac Vert — a<br />
