3.13 Structural fi fitting tting
The principle says: It is better to seal on the inside than on the outside!
The sealing materials used have to allow more diffusion to the outside
than to the inside.
The Energy Saving Decree (EnEV) (Appendix 1, no. 2.5) describes how the
thermal bridges are to be taken into consideration in case of the determination
of the loss of heat transmission.
3.13.1 Joint formation of sealing compounds ➔
Please note that:
■ In cases of a recessed reveal, a minimum distance of 10 mm has to be
kept between window plane and recess.
■ In case of window hinges, an allowance for expansion has to be made in
the coupling.
3.13.2 Insulation of the gap ➔
The gap is to be filled completely with insulating material.
3.13.3 Sealing of the inside (see fig. 32) ➔
The construction is made by:
Inside, the sealing has to be carried out air tight.
3.13.4 Sealing of the outside (see fig. 31) ➔
The construction is made by:
Outside, the sealing has to be carried out watertight under driving rain.
