8. Legal requirements
The construction of buildings and building components is
subject to the legal requirements concerning:
■ Mechanical resistance and stability,
■ safety in case of fire,
■ hygiene, health and environmental protection,
■ safety in use,
■ protection against noise,
■ energy economy and heat retention.
Therefrom, especially the legal rules for safety in use, thermal
efficiency, noise control and hygiene are to be followed for
windows and their installation.
8.1 Examples of basic legal requirements
■ VOB, Part A
- general requirements for the invitation to tender and
the placing of construction works
- especially for public invitations to tender
■ VOB, Part B (DIN 1961)
- determination of the nature and amount of work
- salary
- execution
- warranty etc.
■ VOB, Part C (DIN 18299)
Legal requirements
- regulation of necessary details in the specifications
- division of extra works and special works
- clarification of the implantation regulations (indication
of necessary standards etc.)

German Building Regulations of the Land etc.)
