My sincere thanks to my supervisor Prof. Zeev Wiesman, who gave me both
opportunity and support to study for my PhD degree in Israel. His advice, constant
encouragement, suggestion, and guidelines during the whole course of my study will
accompany me all my life. The experience I gained under his supervision is important not
only scientifically, but also personally. He provided encouragement, sound advice, and
good company throughout all my studies. I would have been lost without him.
I would like to acknowledge Mr. Yigal Gilboa and Prof. Jerzy W. Jaroszewski for
their valuable assistance in LC-MS and NMR analysis and to Ms Edna Oxman for
Thanks to all members of the Phyto-lipid Biotechnology Laboratory and the Institute
for Applied Research of the University for providing a homely atmosphere during whole
period of my study. Special thanks to Mr. Sebastian Wiesswien for his valuable help on
my work. My sincere thanks also go to Mr. Vinod Saharan, Ms Mariana Hazanovsky, Ms
Lastly, and most importantly, I am very grateful to my mother, wife Gita, son
