3. DEFINITIONS AND INTERPRETATION<br />

3.1 In this award, unless the contrary intention appears:<br />

Act means the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).<br />

adult apprentice means an employee who is 21 years of age or over on the<br />

date they enter into an apprenticeship training agreement.<br />

agreement-based transitional instrument has the meaning in the Fair<br />

Work (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act<br />

2009 (Cth).<br />

award-based transitional instrument has the meaning in the Fair Work<br />

(Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (Cth).<br />

carver means an employee who carves any kind of stonework which does not<br />

come within the definition of a stonemason, for the decoration of buildings<br />

or other stonework, from a model or freehand design.<br />

employee means a national system employee as defined in sections 13 and<br />

30C of the Act.<br />

employer means a national system employer as defined in sections 14 and<br />

30D of the Act.<br />

enterprise award-based instrument has the meaning in the Fair Work<br />

(Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (Cth).<br />

glass and glazing contracting means the business of principally providing<br />

glass and glazing work on a contract basis.<br />

glass and glazing work means:<br />

<strong>Joinery</strong> & <strong>Building</strong> <strong>Trades</strong> <strong>Award</strong> <strong>2010</strong><br />

(a) the designing, bevelling, cutting, embossing or glazing by hand or<br />

machine, painting, silvering, sand-blasting, bending or otherwise<br />

working of all types of glass used in the trade, as well as leadlights,<br />

spandrel panels, clear plastic, sheet acrylic or any substitute therefor,<br />

glass lenses or prisms;<br />

(b) the fitting and/or fixing in position of all types of glass used in the trade,<br />

as well as louvres, spandrel panels, glazing bars, clear plastic, or glass<br />

lenses or prisms in domestic on site situations;<br />

(c) the packing and delivery of all types of glass used in the trade, as well<br />

as louvres, spandrel panels, leadlights, glazing bars, fibreglass, clear<br />

plastic, sheet acrylic or any substitute therefor, glass lenses or prisms<br />

including any labouring work in connection with any such operations;<br />

(d) the toughening, heat treating or laminating of glass or safety glass;<br />

(e) the fabrication, assembly, glazing and installation of Insulation Glass<br />

units;<br />
