(ii) designing for windows, posters, show window and theatre<br />

displays, honour rolls, illuminated addresses, neon signs, stencils,<br />

display banners;<br />

(iii) gilding (i.e. the application of gold, silver, aluminium or any metal<br />

leaf to any surface);<br />

(iv) designing and laying out of cutout displays of all descriptions,<br />

either pictorial, scenic or lettering;<br />

(v) the designing, setting up and the operation for duplication of signs<br />

on any material; and<br />

(vi) the making of stencils and stencilling by screens or any other<br />

method and the making and/or fixing of transfers.<br />

stonemason means an employee engaged in the dressing or setting of any<br />

kind of stonework that has to be cut to a mould or template or which has to<br />

be proven by a square or straight edge or set to a line or a level.<br />

stonemasonry means any work performed in a stonemason’s yard or factory,<br />

and/or similar work performed in a cemetery.<br />

standard rate means the minimum hourly wage prescribed for Level 5 in<br />

clause 18.1 of this award.<br />

transitional minimum wage instrument has the meaning in the Fair Work<br />

(Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Act 2009 (Cth).<br />

3.2 Where this award refers to a condition of employment provided for in the<br />

NES, the NES definition applies.<br />

4. COVERAGE<br />

4.1 This award covers employers throughout Australia of employees in the<br />

joinery and building trades industries and occupations who are covered by the<br />

classifications in this award and those employees. However, this award does<br />

not cover:<br />

(a) an employer who is outside the scope of clause 4.7(a) unless such<br />

employer employs an employee covered by clause 4.7(b) and the<br />

employer is not covered by another modern award containing a<br />

classification which is more appropriate to the work performed by the<br />

employee;<br />

(b) an employee excluded from award coverage by the Act;<br />

<strong>Joinery</strong> & <strong>Building</strong> <strong>Trades</strong> <strong>Award</strong> <strong>2010</strong><br />

(c) employers or employees engaged in the manufacture of glass from raw<br />

materials;<br />

(d) employers or employees covered by the <strong>Building</strong> and Construction<br />

General On-site <strong>Award</strong> <strong>2010</strong>; or<br />
