This chapter presents a brief overview <strong>of</strong> the project The areas <strong>of</strong> emphasis wiII be a<br />
summary <strong>of</strong>the findings, conclusions, limitations and recommendations. These might serve<br />
as a guide for further scientific enquiry into the subject under investigation.<br />
6.2 SUMMARY<br />
The title <strong>of</strong> the study was an evaluation <strong>of</strong> community based rehabilitative care given to<br />
amputated patients living in the suburban area north <strong>of</strong>Durban Metro Region "F".<br />
This study focused on the rehabilitative care given to amputated patients in the community in<br />
terms <strong>of</strong>:<br />
• Physical rehabilitation<br />
• Psychological rehabilitation<br />
• Social rehabilitation<br />
• Vocational rehabilitation<br />
• Problems encountered.<br />
The research questions were as follows:<br />
• Are there any facilities for community-based rehabilitative care in the suburban area?<br />
• Ifany, arethese fucilities for community-based rehabilitation adequate?<br />
• Are the rehabilitation facilities properly utilized by the amputees and their families?<br />
• Do amputees experience physical, psychosocial and vocational problems in the<br />
community?<br />
