<strong>Economic</strong> Contribution <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>UK</strong> <strong>Film</strong> <strong>Industry</strong><br />
July 2007<br />
<strong>The</strong>se estimates (and our estimates for <strong>the</strong> core <strong>UK</strong> film industry’s contribution to GDP and investment<br />
presented below) are based on <strong>the</strong> results for 2002 from a detailed survey <strong>of</strong> 400 companies in <strong>the</strong><br />
screen industries for <strong>the</strong> Optima/CE study, updated for growth in employment in <strong>the</strong> industry over <strong>the</strong> past<br />
four years 7 . We adjust <strong>the</strong> CE estimates for <strong>the</strong> distribution / exhibition sector to focus solely on activity<br />
associated with <strong>UK</strong> qualifying films on <strong>the</strong> basis <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> proportion <strong>of</strong> box <strong>of</strong>fice admissions to <strong>UK</strong> films over<br />
<strong>the</strong> 1994-2006 period.<br />
