Outside London <strong>the</strong>re are centres <strong>of</strong> film production in Central Scotland, Cardiff, Manchester and<br />
Liverpool, Bristol and Nottingham. In addition, all regions host location shoots to a greater or lesser<br />
extent (for example, Harry Potter at Alnwick Castle in Northumberland).<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>UK</strong> <strong>Film</strong> Council invests almost £8 million a year into regional film activities through <strong>the</strong> Regional<br />
Investment Fund for England (RIFE) which supports <strong>the</strong> nine Regional Screen Agencies in England<br />
providing a variety <strong>of</strong> resources aimed at developing public access to, and education about, film and <strong>the</strong><br />
moving image. <strong>The</strong>re are also national screen agencies for Scotland, Wales and Nor<strong>the</strong>rn Ireland<br />
(Figure 4-1).<br />
