Characteristics <strong>of</strong> the Healthy<br />
Most Americans <strong>50</strong>-<strong>79</strong> (76%) describe their health, relative to their peers,<br />
as “very good” (38%) or “good” (38%). About one in four (24%) says<br />
their health is “only fair” (19%) or “poor” (5%).<br />
Most likely to rate their health as “very good” are:<br />
• Men (43% versus 33% <strong>of</strong> women)<br />
• 60-69 year-olds (43% versus 36% <strong>of</strong> those <strong>50</strong>-59 <strong>and</strong> 37% <strong>of</strong> 70-<strong>79</strong><br />
year-olds).<br />
