Physical Conditions Which Interfere With Ability to <strong>Exercise</strong><br />

Barriers to <strong>Exercise</strong><br />

One in three (34%) non-exercising adults <strong>50</strong>-<strong>79</strong> does not engage in<br />

physical activity because a health condition prevents them from doing so.<br />

Among them, the following are the most commonly cited health<br />

conditions:<br />

Six in ten (58%) say arthritis interferes with their ability to exercise<br />

At least four in ten mention chronic pain (46%) or injury (41%), while<br />

about one in three cite physical disabilities (36%) or heart problems<br />

(30%)<br />

At least one in ten cite asthma (17%) or incontinence (12%).<br />
