New Features<br />
<strong>Ektron</strong> 8.5 is an exciting new release from <strong>Ektron</strong>, and is one of the most significant releases<br />
in <strong>Ektron</strong>’s history. Developers will find 8.5 increases productivity through support for .NET<br />
4.0 and the <strong>Ektron</strong> Framework API, which now provides complete API coverage in 8.5.<br />
Content Managers and Administrators benefit from a refined, modern design for the <strong>Ektron</strong><br />
Workarea and new, best-in-class search powered by the Microsoft Search Server.<br />
New features and enhancements include:<br />
l New <strong>Ektron</strong> Workarea styling and user interface enhancements<br />
l Greatly expanded developer Framework API<br />
l New search using Microsoft Search Server<br />
l .NET 4.0 support<br />
l New 3-tier architecture support<br />
l eSync enhancements and new diagnostics<br />
l New <strong>Ektron</strong> Templated Controls<br />
l <strong>Ektron</strong> as Web Application<br />
l Enhanced Localization<br />

With this feature-complete release candidate, you will have access to all the new features<br />
and user interfaces in 8.5. All development and data will be supported going from the<br />
<strong>Release</strong> Candidate to the final <strong>Ektron</strong> 8.5 release, scheduled for the end of September.<br />
Upgrades<br />
Testing is still ongoing for this release candidate including upgrade testing. Clients wishing to<br />
upgrade to this RC from an existing released version are strongly urged to use the RC for<br />
testing purposes until you are confident with the process and have tested your project with<br />
successful results.<br />
Support<br />
Existing clients current with maintenance should use <strong>Ektron</strong> Support for questions or issues.<br />
Anyone evaluating <strong>Ektron</strong> 8.5 for any other reason is urged to engage with <strong>Ektron</strong> Sales for<br />
direction and options for further assistance.<br />

For everyone, <strong>Ektron</strong> is offering the ability to submit issue tickets into our system which we<br />
will track and post updates with any future release candidates build we may offer, in addition<br />
to the final release. All defect fixes will be explained in the 8.5 release notes.<br />
