og á sama hátt stóru athafnasvæðum BÚR og SÍS við Ánanaust<br />

og Eiðsgranda. Einnig var stórum hluta lands við<br />

Grafarvog og Geldinganes breytt, en hugmyndir að breytingum<br />

á þeim slóðum höfðu einnig komið fram á uppdráttunum<br />

1975 og 1981. Þetta opnaði möguleika á þéttari og<br />

samfelldari <strong>í</strong>búðabyggð <strong>í</strong> innbænum og s<strong>í</strong>ðan við Grafarvog,<br />

sem þá var gert ráð fyrir að tengdist miðborginni með brú<br />

yfir Kleppsv<strong>í</strong>k.<br />

Aðalskipulagið var s<strong>í</strong>ðan endurskoðað reglulega út öldina<br />

og kom næst út 1990 en s<strong>í</strong>ðan 1996 og 2001. Í skipulagi<br />

1990 er svipuð aðstaða við Gömlu <strong>höfnin</strong>a og enn var gert<br />

ráð fyrir mögulegri landfyllingu út fyrir Hólmana. Gert er ráð<br />

fyrir umfangsmikilli höfn og athafnasvæði <strong>í</strong> Eiðsv<strong>í</strong>k við Geldinganes<br />

og Gufunes. Skipulagið 1996 gerir ráð fyrir enn frekari<br />

landfyllingu fyrir hafnarstarfsemi við <strong>Örfirisey</strong> en ekki er<br />

lengur gert ráð fyrir mögulegri landfyllingu fyrir byggð frekar<br />

<strong>í</strong> vestur. Hafnarsvæðið <strong>í</strong> Eiðsv<strong>í</strong>k er óbreytt en gert er ráð fyrir<br />

landfyllingu við Gufunes <strong>í</strong> suðvestur að Kleppsv<strong>í</strong>k.<br />

Gildandi aðalskipulag er skipulagið 2001 til 2024 sem<br />

staðfest var af umhverfisráðherra 20. desember 2002. Aðstaðan<br />

við Gömlu <strong>höfnin</strong>a er óbreytt <strong>í</strong> gildandi aðalskipulagi.<br />

Landnotkun á hafnarsvæðum <strong>í</strong> Gufunesi og við Ártúnshöfða<br />

er breytt en hafnarsvæði áfram <strong>í</strong> Eiðsv<strong>í</strong>k með athafnasvæði<br />

<strong>í</strong> Geldinganesi.<br />

Árið 2003 var heimiluð rýmri landnotkun á nokkru svæði<br />

norðvestan Grandagarðs <strong>í</strong> <strong>Örfirisey</strong>. Gert er ráð fyrir landfyllingu<br />

<strong>í</strong> vestur með Eiðsgranda fyrir blandaða byggð á 35<br />

hektara nýju landsvæði.<br />

Nú er unnið að endurskoðun aðalskipulagsins frá 2001<br />

og vonast er til að góðar hugmyndir úr samkeppninni nýtist<br />

inn <strong>í</strong> þá vinnu.<br />

General Plan was conducted between 1984 and 2004.<br />

Several attempts were made. A proposed General Plan<br />

was presented in 1975 and approved by the City Council in<br />

1977 but did not get full confirmation. In March 1982 a new<br />

plan was approved for the “east areas”, but did not address<br />

planning west of Ellidaár Rivers.<br />

The General Plan of Reykjavik 1962 to 1984 was therefore<br />

not reviewed in its entirety during its period of validity.<br />

The General Plan of Reykjavik 1984 takes a final stand on<br />

Sundahöfn’s role as a shipment harbour, calling for the<br />

facilities there to offer a spacious commercial area. At the<br />

same time, provision was made for the <strong>Old</strong> Harbour to<br />

create support areas on landfill at <strong>Örfirisey</strong>, west of Grandagardur.<br />

The possibility is also pointed out of landfill for a<br />

settled area to the west beyond Hólmar, toward Akurey<br />

Island, a land area of about 55 hectares. These amendments<br />

changed part of the north shore from an industrial<br />

area to a mixed residential and service area and, likewise,<br />

large commercial areas of BÚR and SÍS at Ánanaust and<br />

Eidsgrandi. Also, a large part of the land at Grafarvogur and<br />

Geldinganes was changed, for ideas about changes in<br />

these areas had also emerged in the drawings in 1975 and<br />

1981. This opened possibilities for a denser and more continuous<br />

residential downtown area and later at Grafarvogur,<br />

for which provision was also made to connect with City<br />

Centre with a bridge over Kleppsv<strong>í</strong>k.<br />

The General Plan was later revised regularly the rest of<br />

the century, being issued next in 1990 and then in 1996 and<br />

2001. The plan in 1990 has a similar facility at the <strong>Old</strong> Harbour,<br />

and provision was still made for possible landfill out<br />

beyond Hólmar. An extensive harbour and commercial area<br />

are provided for in Eidsv<strong>í</strong>k at Geldinganes and Gufunes. The<br />

1996 plan provides for further landfill for the harbour opera-<br />
