og nýja samkeppni um norðurhluta hennar (Nordhavnen).
Þá var samkeppnin um Gömlu höfnina í Reykjavík kynnt og
Sigurður Einarsson arkitekt hjá Batteríinu ehf. gerði grein
fyrir skipulagshugmyndum í og við tónlistar- og ráðstefnuhúsið
sem nú rís við höfnina. Námsstefnuna sóttu um 150
manns.
Þá var að lokum haldinn opinn kynningarfundur, einnig í
Loftkastalanum, 19. febrúar 2009. Fundurinn var fyrst og
fremst ætlaður almenningi, sem einnig er boðin þátttaka í
samkeppninni. Um 30 manns mættu á fundinn og urðu
nokkuð líflegar umræður að honum loknum.
Þessir þrír fundir voru allir haldnir áður en samkeppnislýsingin
var fullgerð þar sem undirbúningsnefnd vildi gefa
væntanlegum þátttakendum og öðrum sem áhuga hafa á
málefnum svæðisins tækifæri til að koma skoðunum sínum
á framfæri áður en undirbúningi samkeppninnar væri að
fullu lokið. Fjöldi góðra ábendinga komu fram á þessum
fundum sem undirbúningsnefndin tók tillit til við lokaundirbúning
keppnislýsingar. Fundargerðir ofangreindra kynningarfunda

Skipan í dómnefnd lauk í mars 2009 og var í kjölfarið lokið
við gerð keppnislýsingar.

and those present actively contributed pointers that the
committee utilized while continuing preparation of the
competition
Next, a half-day symposium was held on 13 February
2009, in Loftkastalinn at Seljavegur 2. Two foreign lecturers
came to the symposium and gave talks. Jörn Walter, a
planning specialist from Germany, talked about the development
and planning of Hamburg Harbour, and Karl-Gustav
Jensen, an architect from Denmark and former Director of
Development for the Port of Copenhagen, discussed development
of the Port of Copenhagen and a new competition
on the northern part of it (Nordhavnen). There was also a
presentation on the competition on the Old Harbour in
Reykjavik, and architect Sigurdur Einarsson at Batteríid ehf.
gave an accounting of the planning ideas in and near the
Concert and Conference Centre in Reykjavik, now being
built at the harbour. 150 people attended the symposium.
Finally, on 19 February 2009, there was a presentation,
also in Loftkastalinn. The meeting was primarily intended
for the general public, which is also invited to participate in
the competition. About 30 people showed up at the meeting,
and there were fairly lively discussions at its conclusion.
These three meetings were all held before the competition
specification was fully drafted since the Preparation
Committee wanted to give prospective participants and
others interested in the area’s affairs an opportunity to
present their views before completely finishing preparation
of the competition. A number of good pointers emerged at
these meetings that the Preparation Committee took into
account in the final preparation of the competition specification.

Appointments to the Jury was finished in March 2009,
and following this the competition specification was completed.
