The following topics are in the foreground: o Field bus systems like CAN bus and the CanOpen protocol. o IEEE 1451. o IEEE 1451/SWE harmonization. o Hardware implementations of standards. Links to other EU projects/initiatives like KM3NET, EMODNET will be presented. As use cases the implementation of IEEE 1451 as part of the OGC Interoperability experiments will be demonstrated and discussed. Furthermore the approach towards achieving IEEE/SWE harmonization will be presented. 4.4.2.2 Panel sessions Panel P3.2 – “Smart sensors and other interface issues” led by Eric Delory (DBSCALE) and Joaquim Del Rio (UPC).
