By contrast, secondary higher schools like the AHS or BHS can show just a slight decrease in their numbers
of pupils. This might represent the national trend towards higher education. However this situation may
change soon as there are drastically declining numbers of pupils attending primary schools (because of
decreasing birth rate). This may have a delayed effect on other school types as well.
The only type of school which has been improving its situation are the Fachschulen, since their numbers
increased clearly (11,54%). Nevertheless, Fachschulen only represent a very small number of pupils and
usually only accept one or two classes per year.
Considering the numbers shown in Diagram 12, it is clear that all types of school are confronted with decreasing
pupil numbers.
