Content Security 4–4 Virus Scanning The Virus Scanning section looks like this: Using this section, you can configure actions, e. g. Block, Block and system log, orAllow, for virus-infected content that has been detected by the antimalware engine. The anti-malware engine covered by your license is displayed at the top of this section. This engine scans all files, including archives and active elements in Web and e-mail traffic. This occurs, however, only after all other filters have been applied, so files that are blocked do not unnecessarily need to be checked for viruses. You can configure different actions for virus-infected Web or e-mail traffic. To ensure an optimum level of performance for the filtering functions, the virus signature files need to be updated in intervals that you can configure. You can also perform a manual update at any time. An alert marked with an orange rectangle will remind you to perform an update if this has not been done for at least three days. With this alert, the Check Update Manager link is displayed, which will take you to the AV Engine tab of the Update Manager. After specifying the appropriate settings, click on Apply Changes to make them effective. Use the following item to configure virus scanning: • Virus found From the drop-down lists provided here, select actions for Web or e-mail traffic or for both. These actions will be taken should the anti-malware engine detect a virusinfected object.
AV PreScan The AV PreScan section looks like this: Content Security Using this section, you can enable the Webwasher Anti-Virus PreScan technology, which allows faster scanning without reducing security. Users can access and browse the Web as usual with an extremely low latency time. Performance is improved by reducing the load that is sent to the antimalware engine for virus scanning. The other Webwasher filters are first applied to incoming traffic, only then is potentially dangerous content passed on to the anti-malware engine. If you want to use this option, make sure the checkbox next to the section heading is marked. The checkbox is marked by default. After modifying this setting, click on Apply Changes to make the modification effective. 4–5
