Scanning for Potentially Unwanted Programs The section labeled Scanning for Potentially Unwanted Programs looks like this: Using this section, you can configure methods of detecting potentially unwanted programs in addition to using the anti-malware engine. These methods are heuristic scanning and a detecting potentially unwanted programs.
Content Security Note that enabling these methods will cause the performance of the anti-malware engine to decrease. To enable one of these methods for the anti-malware engine, mark the checkbox in the corresponding line. Then click on Apply Changes to make your settings effective. Use the following checkboxes to configure scanning for potentially unwanted programs: • Enable heuristic scanning Mark this checkbox if you want to use the heuristic scanning method. • Enable detection for Potentially Unwanted Programs Mark this checkbox if you want to use the method for detecting potentially unwanted programs. 4.3 Proactive Scanning The Proactive Scanning options are invoked by clicking on the corresponding button under Content Security: If you want to enable any of these options, make sure the checkbox on this button is also marked. The checkbox is marked by default. After modifying the setting of this checkbox, click on Apply Changes to make the modification effective. These are policy-dependent options, i. e. they are configured for a particular policy. When you are configuring these options, you need to specify this policy. To do this, select a policy from the drop-down list labeled Policy, which is located above the Virus Scanning button: 4–7
