2.4.3. SEG International Exhibition and & 78 th Annual Meeting, Las Vegas 2008 In November 2008 the SEG International Exhibition and 78 th Annual Meeting was held in Las Vegas. There were two BSC members who participated in it. One of them, Christain Stanciu, was given a travel grant by Chevron for the SEG/Chevron <strong>Student</strong> Leadership Symposium, as he was vice-president of our SEG <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> at the time. The SEG SLS is an equivalent of the AAPG <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> Leadership Symposium (AAPG SCLS). This year is the third time this event took place and the second one in which the BSC has one of the members participating in it. The second one, Razvan Orza participated in the meeting with two presentations. One was a scientific poster presentation, Single sensors versus hard wired array in amplitude analisys and the other one was a presentation about the Zlatna Field Camp (mentioned above), the one sponsored by the SEG Foundation. This was a great opportunity to show the SEG the good use of the money they granted us. It also constituted insurance that our future activity is going to be at least as good. This was important because our SEG <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> here has other projects as well, which they would like to implement. Hopefully, we will be granted in the future with the same support from the SEG. Our participation in the SEG Annual meetings has become usual because our SEG member students are extremely ambitious and determined in having as much scientific activity as possible. This is an admirable thing and we are all very proud of them. Page | 21
2.4.4. AAPG ER IBA / <strong>Student</strong> Leadership Meeting, Prague 2009 This year, just like the last one, the AAPG <strong>Bucharest</strong> <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> was represented in Prague for the AAPG European Region <strong>Student</strong> Leadership Meeting. The person who attended this meeting was Ioana Stan, BSC president at the time. There were a number of 14 European student chapter presidents at the meeting. The meeting was lead by the AAPG European Region President at the time - Istvan Berzci, Mike Mlynek - AAPG <strong>Student</strong> Affairs and Nick Lagrilliere - AAPG European Region <strong>Student</strong> Affairs. The program included three presentations: Istvan Berzci - Importance of students and young professionals to the AAPG Mike Mlynek - AAPG <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> Programme and related benefits Nick Lagrilliere - AAPG European Region <strong>Student</strong> <strong>Chapter</strong> Programme strategy After these presentations we had a very fruitful round table discussion. One important topic of the discussion was the AAPG European Region <strong>Student</strong>s and Young Professionals Committee, how to use it to make it grow and hoe to use it to our advantage.
