The event will take place between 22 rd and 24 th of April 2010. The venue will be<br />
the World Trade Center <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Bucharest</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> conference centre<br />
The conference will consist of the following events:<br />
- The 11 th Symposium of Romanian <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Student</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> Geologists – traditional event for<br />
Romanian students. Its main goal is to gather Romanian <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>sciences students f<strong>ro</strong>m all<br />
over the country and offer them the chance to compete with oral scientific presentations<br />
for the 3 sets of awards, one for each thematic section. The presentation have always been<br />
made in Romanian, this being a tradition that we don‟t intend to change.<br />
- The 1 st International Geosciences <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Student</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> Symposium – an event attached to the<br />
previous, with similar goals, the difference being the target g<strong>ro</strong>up, in this case being any<br />
students interesting in competing at international level, with oral and poster presentation<br />
made in English. The 1 st International Geosciences Job Fair – 3 days event that will take<br />
place in the Plaza Room of the WTC conference centre and will consist of a fair where<br />
companies will present to students their field, structure, technology and opportunities as<br />
an employee. The exhibition <strong>ro</strong>om will be organized in booths, each company owning<br />
one, according with the financing package chosen. There will be some booths available<br />
for real or trial interviews where specialists of companies will investigate the resource<br />
that the participant students are representing.<br />
- Short courses and lectures held by highly qualified distinguished guests. Three of<br />
these p<strong>ro</strong>grams will be organized and they will be offered by the three partner societies:<br />
SEG, AAPG and respectively EAGE.<br />
- The SEG/Exxon Mobile <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Student</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> Education P<strong>ro</strong>gram – two days training course in<br />
pet<strong>ro</strong>leum exploration realized by p<strong>ro</strong>fessional trainers f<strong>ro</strong>m Exxon Mobile. The event<br />
will take place during 20 th – 21 st of April and will offer travel grants for students all<br />
a<strong>ro</strong>und Eu<strong>ro</strong>pe to be able to attend the p<strong>ro</strong>gram and the IGSC.<br />
- The Challenge Bowl competition – p<strong>ro</strong>gram offered by the SEG Foundation and<br />
organized by Peter Duncan. The event consists of an international quiz with questions<br />
f<strong>ro</strong>m all the fields of <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>logy (pet<strong>ro</strong>logy, sedimentology, stratigraphy, <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>physics,<br />
structural <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>logy, pet<strong>ro</strong>leum <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>logy etc.). The winning team will receive a travel grant<br />
to attend the big <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>final</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> of the contest which will be organized in Denver, USA, during the<br />
SEG Annual Meeting in 2010.<br />
- The field trip – a one or two days field application on the Prahova Valley and in the<br />
Carpathian Mountains, with opportunities for visiting grate <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>logical phenomenons and<br />
outc<strong>ro</strong>ps, with guidance f<strong>ro</strong>m p<strong>ro</strong>fessors of the University of <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Bucharest</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>.<br />
