Conference & Exhibition<br />
EAGE is a p<strong>ro</strong>fessional association for <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>scientists and engineers. It is a<br />
Eu<strong>ro</strong>pean based organization with a worldwide membership p<strong>ro</strong>viding a<br />
global network of commercial and academic p<strong>ro</strong>fessionals to all members. The association<br />
is truly multi-disciplinary and international in form and pursuits.<br />
The 71 st EAGE Conference & Exhibition incorporating SPE EUROPEC 2009 was<br />
held in Amsterdam, 8-11 June, 2009, the conference theme being “Balancing Global<br />
Resources”, the search for the right mix of traditional and new app<strong>ro</strong>aches to meet world<br />
demand for energy, in a sustainable and responsible way.<br />
The technical p<strong>ro</strong>gram consisted in oral and poster presentations as well as<br />
workshops, field trips and short courses covering a whole range of <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>sciences disciplines.<br />
The student p<strong>ro</strong>gram was divided into 3 parallel sections including the student court<br />
activities, the student short courses and the trial interviews.<br />
A Romanian team consisting of BSC members took part at this major event,<br />
actively participating at all student sections. That included oral and poster presentations,<br />
SPE EUROPEC, 4 teams participating at the Geo-Quiz Challenge, EAGE <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Student</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> Evening,<br />
trial interviews, short courses, etc. Several members also received travel grants f<strong>ro</strong>m EAGE<br />
<st<strong>ro</strong>ng>Student</st<strong>ro</strong>ng> Fund and its official sponsors.<br />
Participating at International <st<strong>ro</strong>ng>geo</st<strong>ro</strong>ng>sciences conferences is a key aspect of every<br />
student‟s life, with further<br />
implications in his career<br />
development. The EAGE<br />
student p<strong>ro</strong>gram gave us the<br />
opportunity to optimize our<br />
chances in pursuing careers in<br />
Geology, Geophysics and<br />
Pet<strong>ro</strong>leum Engineering.<br />
Currently, several BSC<br />
members are preparing for their<br />
participation at the next EAGE Conference, to be held in Barcelona, June 2010. We hope to<br />
make a wonderful impression and also to make the most out of our attendance at this<br />
outstanding international event.<br />
