5) <strong>the</strong> latest estimates for next overhaul,
A Lightship Condition of 81,450.69 I<strong>to</strong>ns and a Combat Load Condition of 104,263.10
I<strong>to</strong>ns were obtained from <strong>the</strong> CVN 72 Weight and Moment Baseline report and used for
modeling purposes. These values are from before <strong>the</strong> latest correction for unknown growth was
applied. Included in Table 1 are <strong>the</strong> current CVN class predictions with <strong>the</strong> most recent
unknown growth corrections applied. This is an extremely important chart because it shows
each carrier's delivery data and class predictions for displacement, KG, and list.
The VCG, LCG, TCG, and volume of each tank being analyzed was <strong>the</strong>n checked and
modified if necessary <strong>to</strong> ensure accurate stability and analytical results. These naval architecture
parameters were checked against <strong>the</strong> compartment and access database for CVN 70. Normally,
one would use <strong>the</strong> ship's lines drawings and develop <strong>the</strong> hull up <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> bulkhead and freeboard
decks (i.e. <strong>the</strong> highest level <strong>to</strong> which <strong>the</strong>re will be watertight/structural salvage operations). On
<strong>the</strong> basis of this modeling, one checks <strong>the</strong> hydrostatics and curves of form against <strong>the</strong> builder's
documents <strong>to</strong> determine if <strong>the</strong> hull has been modeled correctly. Any freely flooding area above
<strong>the</strong> freeboard deck will generally be left off <strong>the</strong> hull model unless <strong>the</strong> deck is a strength deck (i.e.
part of hull girder bending). The 2"'' deck sponson voids had <strong>to</strong> be added <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> model because
<strong>the</strong>y were not included previously and POSSE is normally only utilized <strong>to</strong> model what is inside
<strong>the</strong> ship's hull. Builder's lines drawings were not used, however, because salvage and
hydrostatic work was not needed for purposes of this project. Instead, weights and centers were
input <strong>to</strong> model <strong>the</strong> CVN 72 data <strong>to</strong> determine and correct <strong>the</strong> ship's list. After careful accounting
