Count Paul Hatzfeldt was an able Prussian diplomatist who worked
for a number of years in immediate association with Bismarck in
the Foreign office." During the Franco-German war he was with the
Chancellor in France, whence he wrote almost daily letters. They
give interesting sidelights on historic events and people, but there
