Priorities<br />

• Overall Aim/Vision<br />

The <strong>Council</strong>’s overall aim remains: -<br />

“To take direct action and work in partnership with others, to continue<br />

the revitalisation of <strong>Hartlepool</strong> life and secure a better future for<br />

<strong>Hartlepool</strong> people”.<br />

The <strong>Council</strong>’s aim is based on the <strong>Hartlepool</strong> Partnership’s new long term vision,<br />

agreed in July 2008, looking 20 years ahead is: -<br />

“<strong>Hartlepool</strong> will be a thriving, respectful, inclusive, healthy, ambitious and<br />

outward looking community, in an attractive and safe environment, where<br />

everyone is able to realise their potential.”<br />

The <strong>Council</strong> has adopted the eight themes that the Partnership has agreed forms<br />

part of the Sustainable Community Strategy: -<br />

• Jobs and the Economy<br />

• Lifelong Learning and Skills<br />

• Health and Wellbeing<br />

• Community Safety<br />

• Environment<br />

• Housing<br />

• Culture and Leisure and Community Learning<br />

• Strengthening Communities<br />

The <strong>Council</strong> has a ninth theme, which covers what the <strong>Council</strong> is doing to sustain<br />

its capacity to deliver excellent, value for money services in the future: -<br />
