Firstly I would like to thank my advisor Prof.Ashoke Sen for his able guidance, support,<br />

patience and many of the wonderful courses which he taught us during my five years of PhD<br />

at the Harish Chandra Reasearch Institute. Not only string theory, but whatever I know<br />

about the modern approaches to some of the classical problems I learned from him. I would<br />
