Acknowledgments Firstly I would like to thank my advisor Prof.Ashoke Sen for his able guidance, support, patience and many of the wonderful courses which he taught us during my five years of PhD at the Harish Chandra Reasearch Institute. Not only string theory, but whatever I know about the modern approaches to some of the classical problems I learned from him.
