This project is Phase 1 of an overall project to plan, design, and construct a new wastewater transmission facility to accommodate growth in the development area. The initial capacity is estimated at average wastewater flows of 5 to 10 mgd, with an estimated low for of 0.2 mgd, and a potential build-out capacity nearing an average flow of 35 mgd. The lift station will serve new developments in the northeast portion of the City of Aurora within the First Creek drainage basin along the E-470 corridor. The Clark County Water Reclamation District has identified the need to rehabilitate three sewer lift stations it owns and operates in Laughlin, Nevada, due to recent operations and maintenance concerns. Lift Stations No. 1 and No. 3 are approximately 22 and 15 years old, respectively and collect wastewater from the casino corridor and pump the raw sewage to the Laughlin Wastewater Reclamation Facility for treatment. Lift Station No. 2 collects wastewater from the residential community then pumps it to the Laughlin Wastewater Reclamation Facility for treatment. Beck and Carollo identified two technical alternatives that best meet the King County Wastewater Treatment Division’s (WTD) objectives for this project—an 8-MW combustion turbines alternative and a commercial-scale power plant. These two alternatives represent very different approaches to providing power at the South Plant.
