HVAC -Aurora selected Carollo to assist its team with planning, final design, and implementation of the First Creek Sanitary
Sewer Lift Station (FCLS) and associated force mains. This project is Phase 1 of an overall project to plan, design, and
construct a new wastewater transmission facility to accommodate growth in the development area. The initial capacity is
estimated at average wastewater flows of 5 to 10 mgd, with an estimated low for of 0.2 mgd, and a potential build-out capacity
nearing an average flow of 35 mgd. The lift station will serve new developments in the northeast portion of the City of Aurora
within the First Creek drainage basin along the E-470 corridor.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE [X] Check if project performed with current firm
Project engineer. Carollo designed the installation of a second-stage odor treatment system for the City of Santa Cruz
Wastewater Treatment Facility. Key elements of this project included: Air testing to ascertain the chemical composition of the
foul air to be treated; Addition of second-stage carbon treatment system capable of treating 42,000 cfm of foul air being
discharged from existing packed bed odor towers; Reconfiguration of the existing odor scrubber ductwork and the addition of a
new booster fan.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE [X] Check if project performed with current firm
Mechanical engineer. The Clark County Water Reclamation District has identified the need to rehabilitate three sewer lift
stations it owns and operates in Laughlin, Nevada, due to recent operations and maintenance concerns. Lift Stations No. 1 and
No. 3 are approximately 22 and 15 years old, respectively and collect wastewater from the casino corridor and pump the raw
sewage to the Laughlin Wastewater Reclamation Facility for treatment. Lift Station No. 2 collects wastewater from the
residential community then pumps it to the Laughlin Wastewater Reclamation Facility for treatment.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE [X] Check if project performed with current firm
Project engineer. Previous cogeneration facility evaluation work performed by R.W. Beck and Carollo identified two technical
alternatives that best meet the King County Wastewater Treatment Division’s (WTD) objectives for this project—an 8-MW
combustion turbines alternative and a commercial-scale power plant. These two alternatives represent very different
approaches to providing power at the South Plant.
(3) BRIEF DESCRIPTION (Brief scope, size, cost, etc.) AND SPECIFIC ROLE Check if project performed with current firm
Project engineer. Carollo provided engineering services for the digester gas scrubbing/ cogeneration upgrade study for Clean
Water Services District. The District currently generates electricity at the Durham and Rock Creek Advanced Wastewater
Treatment facilities by burning digester gas in large internal combustion engine generators. This project is an economic
analysis of generally recognized industrial methods to reduce O&M costs, increase power generation and reduce emissions.
