Position of Russia in the Global Market of Software<br />
<strong>and</strong> Software Development Services<br />
The Networked Readiness Index (NRI) measures<br />
the propensity for countries to exploit ICT by three<br />
parameters: the environment for ICT development,<br />
the readiness of the community’s key stakeholders<br />
(individuals, businesses <strong>and</strong> national governments) to<br />
effectively use ICT, <strong>and</strong> finally the actual usage of ICT.<br />
However, we consider the rating of the<br />
International Telecommunication Union more<br />
reliable. It also evaluated the development of the<br />
infocommunication sector including 154 countries.<br />
Russia got the 50th position. The experts of the<br />
union estimated Russia’s level as high. To determine<br />
the level of ICT development a complex system of<br />
11 indicators was applied: it concerns the availability<br />
of technologies, their use <strong>and</strong> IT skills of the<br />
population in each individual country.<br />
The 50th place seems more realistic for Russia.<br />
Given a rapid growth of the Russian market of mobile<br />
communication there are chances to advance in these<br />
ratings.<br />
