Trial conducted in open beds, plants propagated by tissue<br />

culture planted into 140mm pots filled with potting mix<br />

nutrition maintained with slow fertilisers and drip irrigated,<br />

no pest or disease treatments were required.<br />

Trial Design Fifteen pots of each variety arranged in a complete<br />

randomised design.<br />

Measurements From ten plants at random. One sample per plant<br />

Origin and Breeding<br />

Controlled pollination: ‘H0061’ (seed parent) x ‘Emerald Gem’ (pollen parent) in<br />

1998, in Kangy Angy NSW. Selection criteria: compact habit, free flowering,<br />

attractive flower colour, suitability for pot production. In 2000, inoculation to<br />

micropropagation: in vitro seed germination and multiplication of seedling. From<br />

2001 to 2003, first flowering and test growing in nursery for production and growth<br />

characters: maintenance of in vitro nuclear stock during evaluation. From 2004 to<br />

present further production trials and test growing in various locations. <strong>Variety</strong> named<br />

‘Rambudan’. Breeder: Angus Stewart, NSW.<br />
