Trial conducted in commercial production greenhouse, rooted<br />

cuttings (propagated from stock plants grown at Winmalee)<br />

potted into 150mm standard pots in commercial potting mix,<br />

nutrients supplied by slow release and liquid feed fertiliser<br />

application, plant protection treatments applied as necessary.<br />

No pinching or other plant shaping treatments were applied.<br />

Trial Design 10 plants of the candidate variety were grown to confirm<br />

overseas test report data.<br />

Measurements Taken at random from 10 plants.<br />

Origin and Breeding<br />

Controlled pollination: seed parent ‘Sil Aurora’ x pollen parent ‘Genor Gen Tamara’<br />

in a planned breeding program. Seed parent is characterised by plant habit compact<br />

and rounded; flower colour lighter orange. Pollen parent is characterised by flower<br />

colour dark red. Selection criteria: foliage colour, plant habit, flower habit, flower<br />

colour. Selection was done at Weener, Germany in May 2000. Propagation: by<br />

vegetative tip cuttings, no off types occurred in at least three successive vegetative<br />

generations during the selection process and in numerous vegetative generations since<br />

selection. ‘Ballurtang’ will be commercially propagated by vegetative tip cuttings.<br />
