Choice of Comparators Grouping characteristics used in<br />
identifying the most similar varieties of common<br />
knowledge were – Leaf shape and colour, bract colour, and<br />
plant growth habit. On the basis of these grouping<br />
characteristics ‘Unnamed Pink’, ‘Donya’ A and ‘Blushing<br />
Beauty’. were selected as comparators. ‘Unnamed Pink’ is<br />
also the original parental variety.<br />
Comparative Trial Location: Moggill, QLD Dec 2000-<br />
May 2002. Conditions: plants raised in soilless potting<br />
media in 200mm pots, fertilised with slow release<br />
Osmocote® added at 5g/litre, grown under greenhouse film.<br />
Normal cultural practices except pruning carried out during<br />
the trial. Trial design: 5 plants of each variety randomly<br />
placed. Measurements: taken from all plants.<br />
