Interestingly, Contant and Tézé were able to condense four [a-H 2 P 2 W 12 O 48 ] 12- ions resulting in
the large and cyclic polyanion [P 8 W 48 O 184 ] 40- (Figure 1.8). 44 However, since then only very few
compounds involving reaction of the dodecatungstodiphosphate ion [a-H 2 P 2 W 12 O 48 ] 12- have
been reported, most likely because of its lability. 45
The polarograms of [P 8 W 48 O 184 ] 40- and
[H 2 P 2 W 12 O 48 ] 12- are sufficiently different to allow identification. A larger difference was
