MERINO WOOL SINGLE JERSEY: Lightweight, smooth,
high-stretch single jersey made from ultra fine merino
wool. Due to its insulating properties and the fact that it
naturally inhibits the growth of bacteria and associated
odours, merino wool is ideal for winter activities of longer
duration and low to medium intensity. The special attribute
of wool is its natural thermo-regulatory capabilities. The
fibres do not absorb sweat in its liquid state; they absorb
is as moisture vapour, wick it away from the body and
then release it into the environment.
MICRO SUEDE: Synthetic leather with a velvety feel and
a suede-like appearance.
MICROFIBER SUEDE: Lightweight, extremely absorb
ent and quick drying microfibre fabric with a relative
ly smooth surface; used to make trekking towels. The
microfibres have a particularly effective capillary action,
which makes the fabric extra absorbent.
MICROFIBER TERRY: Lightweight, very absorbent and
quick drying microfibre fabric with a towelling-like surface;
used to make trekking towels. The microfibres have a particularly
effective capillary action, which makes the fabric
extra absorbent.
MICROFIBER ULTRA: Extremely light and packable towel
fabric with effective capillary action for extra absorbency.
MICROGUARD: This synthetic sleeping bag insulation
material consists of two different types of fibres: spiral
fibres that ensure lasting stability and loft and fine microfibres
that provide very good insulation performance. The
fill material retains the majority of its insulation capability
even when damp. MICROGUARD sleeping bags are therefore
a sensible choice on trips where the bag can not always
be aired properly.
MOSQUITO MESH 20D/40D: Used to make the mosquito-proof
netting for inner tents, this fine gauge mesh
is light, tough and keeps its shape well. It ensures good
internal ventilation and keeps even the smallest midges out.
MULTIPASS: Rubber sole for sandals, designed for land
and water based activities. It consists of two components:
1. outsole with different tread blocks for secure grip even
on wet terrain
2. cushioning EVA footbed integrated into the outsole
unit with extra shock pad in the heel and antibacterial
function (inhibits formation of bacteria and associated
unpleasant odours)
NAILHEAD 100D/210D/420D: Light, very tough nylon
fabrics with “nail head” protrusions on the surface. The
advantage is that abrasion does not occur right across the
fabric but is limited to the peripheral areas. NAILHEAD is
used in different thread strengths (deniers) for the main
and base sections of a rucksack, or depending on what
the rucksack is designed to be used for.
NANUK 100 BASIC: This light, 100-weight velour fleece
is ideal for very light and packable fleece clothing. It offers
very good warmth-to-weight performance and effective
moisture management properties, dries quickly and is low
maintenance.
NANUK 100 TECH VELOUR Q.M.C.: The fleece is more
robust than and four times as wind resistant as standard
fleece. It retains its appearance even after extensive use
and washing. It works well as part of a layering system, as
the soft, compact microvelour surface allows the next layer
in the system to be slipped on easily without bunching. The
reverse side wicks moisture quickly away from the body to
the outer surface of the fabric, where it can evap orate
effectively.
NANUK 100 MICRO STRIPE: Microfleece with understated
diagonal striped pattern.

NANUK 150: This 150 velour fleece offers medium insulation
performance, at a level that is still comfortable during
the transitional seasons and summer. It bears the
label “bluesign® approved fabric”.
NANUK ATHLETIC Q.M.C.: Very light 100 fleece with
moisture regulating properties.
NANUK DYNAMIC: Bi-elastic fleece with a densely woven,
windproof jersey outer surface and a reverse side in fluffy
velour fleece. The insulation performance is comparable
with 100-150 fleece fabrics.
NON SLIP 75D: Robust fabric with anti-slip finish, used
on the undersides of our mats.
NYLON RIPSTOP 40D BREATHABLE: A bright, dense
weave inner tent fabric used for lightweight tents. It incorporates
a matrix of ripstop threads and provides the
ideal combination of weight, durability, water repellence
(water beads up and runs off the surface of the fabric)
and breathability. Weight: 50 g/m 2 .
ORGANIC COTTON: We only use cotton sourced from
certified organic producers. It is cultivated in a sustainable
manner, without using chemical biocides, fertilizers or
genetic engineering. The cultivation and processing also
use less water.
OVERLAY TAPE: An extremely abrasion resistant polyurethane
material used to reinforce critical wear points,
such as pocket lips, shoulders, etc.
OVERLAY TAPE REFLECTIVE: We use the reflective
version of our OVERLAY TAPE for apparel designed for fast,
sporty endurance activities.
PAW SLIDER: A light and comfortable flip-flop sole.
Consists of:
1. abrasion resistant, anti-slip rubber outsole
2. ergonomically shaped EVA footbed
3. canvas covering fabric (for pleasant wear climate and
better grip)
PE: Polyethylene. We use this thermoplastic polymer to
make the insoles (lasting boards) on much of our footwear.
PE has a medium density and offers good stability, high
tenacity and a high breaking strain.
POLYESTER 68D BREATHABLE: Lightweight, breathable
and fast drying fabric used as standard for our inner
tents.
POLYESTER 75D: Light, strong, fast drying and UV resistant
flysheet fabric that stretches very little when wet.
The durable PU coating makes it waterproof (hydrostatic
head: 4000 mm when new).
POLYESTER MICROFIBER: A very lightweight and supple
fabric made from fine polyester microfibre yarns. It comes in
several different versions and is used, for instance, to make
our versatile HEADGEAR and light hoods. It has a pleasantly
soft feel and dries quickly.
PROWRAP FIBERGLASS: Very tough and light fibreglass
rods used for the poles on our beach shelters.
PU: PU stands for polyurethane. We use it for midsoles,
toe and heel caps and for coatings. PU is durably elastic,
retains its shape, has shock absorbing properties and is
very light and hard wearing.
Q.M.C. (Quick Moisture Control): The special structure
of Q.M.C. fibres increase their effective surface area. They
blot up moisture very rapidly and diffuse it over the surface
of the fabric so it evaporates quickly. The drying time
is thus significantly reduced. We use Q.M.C. fabrics for
functional shirts and underwear and in our summer
trousers.
RANGER: Lightweight children’s sole for everyday, leisure
and easy hiking. It has three components:
1. sure-grip rubber outsole with shock pads in the forefoot
and heel
2. lightweight insole
3. cushioning EVA footbed with moisture-regulating polyester
covering fabric.
