13.3 Response And Answer Destinations
The response sources and answer commands have a Use ‘ECHO’ in reports checkbox . If
the checkbox is off, then the statistics are reported separately for each destination responded
to by the response or answer. This is useful because the destinations may have different
levels of congestion or the destinations may have different paths so that the delays are not
appropriately aggregated in the same statistic.
However, this detail comes at the cost of longer initialization times and more memory than
the simple ECHO. When statistics are not required or when it is appropriate to aggregate
the statistics over all possible destinations (when all such destinations are on the same LAN
segment, for instance), it is advantageous to continue using the ECHO option to save memory
and improve the speed of the simulation.
