10 May 1994 Anti-encroachment meeting at <strong>Luke</strong> chaired by member of<br />

Governor's Save <strong>Luke</strong> AFB Committee concluded that<br />

unchecked development could not continue because of area's lack<br />

of water.<br />

1 August 1994 USAF moved to ensure continued availability of water for <strong>Luke</strong><br />

by locating environmental law attorney at base to represent <strong>Luke</strong><br />

in on-going water rights adjudication process.<br />

5 August 1994 461st <strong>Fighter</strong> Squadron inactivated as part of plan to reassign the<br />

McDonnell Douglas F-15E Strike Eagle program to Seymour<br />

Johnson AFB, North Carolina.<br />

24 August 1994 Mission Ready Technician Program to provide mission ready<br />

crew chiefs to F-16 units USAF-wide implemented in wing.<br />

21 September 1994 Capt Sharon Preszler graduated becoming the first female <strong>Air</strong><br />

<strong>Force</strong> F-16 pilot.<br />

1 October 1994 <strong>56th</strong> Support Squadron inactivated. Maintenance of Goldwater<br />

Range assumed by civilian contractor.<br />

1 January 1995 311th <strong>Fighter</strong> Squadron activated to conduct foreign training.<br />

Unit had provided foreign training under 58th <strong>Fighter</strong> <strong>Wing</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

had inactivated on 1 April 1994.<br />

31 March 1995 550th <strong>Fighter</strong> Squadron inactivated ending all F-15 training at<br />

<strong>Luke</strong>. Since program began in 1974, 3,303 students trained in<br />

F-15A/B/C/D, <strong>and</strong> 495 pilots <strong>and</strong> 402 weapons systems officers<br />

trained in F-15E for total of 4,200 graduates.<br />

19 April 1995 <strong>Luke</strong> acted as staging area for local rescue team which assisted in<br />

Oklahoma City bombing disaster.
