4 September 1954 Capt Edward W. Kenny won Bendix Trophy <strong>Air</strong> Race/Bendix<br />

Trophy in F-84F when set cross-country record of three hours<br />

<strong>and</strong> two minutes for average speed of 616 miles per hour.<br />

27 October 1954 3600th Flying Training <strong>Wing</strong> (<strong>Fighter</strong>) redesignated 3600th<br />

Combat Crew Training <strong>Wing</strong> (<strong>Fighter</strong>). The 3600th Flying<br />

Training Group (<strong>Fighter</strong>) also redesignated the 3600th Combat<br />

Crew Training Group (<strong>Fighter</strong>).<br />

15 February 1955 The 3600th Installations Group activated as a subordinate of the<br />

wing.<br />

April 1955<br />

The Thunderbirds traveled to Long Isl<strong>and</strong> to pick up six new<br />

Republic F-84F Thunderstreak aircraft at the factory for the team.<br />

7 April 1956 USAF gained title to l<strong>and</strong> on which base situated from Phoenix<br />

for $1.<br />

31 May 1956 Thunderbirds moved to Nellis AFB, Nevada, to fly supersoniccapable<br />

North American F-100 Super Sabres assigned there.
