13 July 1995 Arizona Senate Bill 1062 became law <strong>and</strong> required sellers of<br />

dwellings in high noise zones around military airports to disclose<br />

that fact to potential buyers.<br />

24 August 1995 City of Glendale annexed <strong>Luke</strong> AFB as part of efforts to protect<br />

base from encroachment.<br />

9 September 1995 Members of <strong>56th</strong> Medical Group provided medical assistance for<br />

victims of AMTRAK train derailment west of <strong>Luke</strong>.<br />

1 October 1995 Intricate chain of comm<strong>and</strong> caused reassignment of Mission<br />

Ready Technician Program to 82d Training <strong>Wing</strong>, Sheppard<br />

AFB, Texas. Program became tenant at <strong>Luke</strong>.<br />

1 December 1995 311th <strong>Fighter</strong> Squadron inactivated. Its foreign training mission<br />

<strong>and</strong> most its jets transferred to 162d <strong>Fighter</strong> Group (<strong>Air</strong> National<br />

Guard) in Tucson.<br />

22 March 1996 1995 <strong>Air</strong> Installation Compatible Use Zone (AICUZ) study<br />

released <strong>and</strong> delineated smaller noise print than previous studies.<br />

1 May 1996 House Bill 2355 became law <strong>and</strong> required state real estate<br />

department to prepare noise maps allowing potential home<br />

buyers to determine if prospective dwellings located in high noise<br />

areas.<br />

16 May 1996 Last Peace Carvin II F-16A/B jets left <strong>Luke</strong> as part of plan to<br />

upgrade program to Block 42 F-16C/D jets.<br />

25 June 1996 Terrorist attack on facility in Saudi Arabia killed 19 Americans<br />

<strong>and</strong> injured 250 more. Among injured were three men from<br />

<strong>56th</strong> <strong>Fighter</strong> <strong>Wing</strong>.<br />

8 August 1996 21st <strong>Fighter</strong> Squadron activated to conduct F-16 training for<br />

Taiwan AF.<br />

11 September 1996 President Bill Clinton visited <strong>Luke</strong> during area stop. Was first<br />

such visit since 14 November 1974 when President Gerald Ford<br />

visited base to preside over acceptance ceremony for first F-15.
