SHAAREI TIKVAH/ CHANUKAH <strong>2009</strong><br />

I guess I was born too early.<br />

I don't mean to age myself here, but I'm probably old<br />

enough to be the mother of most of you. That is, had I been<br />

able to get pregnant then. (Not likely.) And way back in those<br />

olden days, infertility- I mean IF-- was, well, not so cutesy.<br />

No cute abbreviations. <strong>Infertility</strong> was-infertility. Childlessness.<br />

Etc. (What would 'childlessness' be? CN) I had no dh. I<br />

mean I had a husband, a true darling, but DH to me was Duncan<br />

Hines. (It was all pareve back then.) Maybe there was IUI,<br />

IVF and also GIFT and ZIFT (Are those still around?). But nothing<br />

fun. I had sisters-in-law and a mother-in-law, but no SILs<br />

and MILs. <strong>Infertility</strong> was loooooong. REALLY long. No way<br />

to shorten it at all. As I've described it before, it was "one long<br />

word that ends with a 'Y' (Why!?)."<br />

But I kind of like this shortening stuff. (Duncan Hines?<br />

Shortening? Do I have a theme here?) I think we need some<br />

more cutesies. OK it may be too late for me. My PIT's (postinfertility-twins)<br />

are in school already. I can even say that now<br />

BE"H I am a mother for longer that I was an IFP (infertility patient)!<br />

Gee, I never thought of that interesting concept. But<br />

I'd never know it though. <strong>Infertility</strong> was so loooooong. RE-<br />

ALLY long. (Didn't I say that already?) And those years have<br />
