Dear A TIME,
I sit alone, although many are around me
My lips smile, my heart tries to follow
The conversation flows around the table
I listen, and dare to dream
That in the near future, I will be the one
To recount with nachas,
Words from a sweet toddler
One I can call my own.
My eyes are open
Yet they don’t see those nearby
Only distant times and faraway places
Once again I have a vision
Of my hands cradling
And my heart giving love
An image that gives me chizuk
To continue swimming
In a storming sea, whose port is out of sight.
A friend smiles to me from across the table
She understands, her heart too, is longing
Her eyes express words of encouragement
Words that embrace my heart
Another powerful wave is on the horizon
We hold hands, duck our heads
And my friend declares
“Let us brave this challenge together”
And now I am no longer alone.
